It's crazy what a difference one year makes.

Just last year, these kiddos were little babies sitting contently on a blanket stuffing their faces with animal crackers. Now, my favorite two-year-olds are little boys who can be found communicating in secret twin language while running in exact opposite directions at all time. After 20 minutes of shooting, I was exhausted. I don't know how their parents do it ( I bow down to you both ).

I shot these photos of Wallace + August last fall, and I still love them so much. They give me all the warm fuzzies, because to me, they represent what childhood is supposed to be—running, playing, falling ( so many falls ), exploring, climbing, getting nice clothes dirty and last but certainly not least, putting shoes in your mouth.

That's not going to be socially acceptable forever Auggie, so enjoy that rubber sole while you can.

P.S. That open mouth twin kiss is too much. Just the dang cutest.

JESSIE + DAN

To me, one of the signs of a really great couple is laughter. How much, how big, how often. All are important. And Jessie + Dan... I think they have it all covered.

Lots, really big, really often. You can't help but laugh along with them.

I'm not just saying these things because Jessie is my cousin / fourth sister and has major dirt on me—including a Spice Girls dance video to "Spice Up Your Life" made many, many years ago—but because these two people genuinely have so much fun together. I have to believe that is blindingly evident.

We started at Indeed Brewing Company with beer, because Jessie + Dan are super cool like that. It must be noted, Indeed Brewing is awesome. Not only is their beer highly drinkable ( too drinkable? ), but they were exceedingly gracious and let us take over their taproom, then gave us a personal tour of their Northeast Minneapolis digs. Unexpectedly so kind.

Following a few beers, we wandered outside into the industrial streets of Logan Park before heading over to Lake Harriet, so Ringo the American Bulldog could get in on the photo action. He may not look like it, but I swear Ringo joined in on the laughter too.

THE BIG PORTFOLIO SHOW

Portfolio-Show-Portraits-FINAL

So this portfolio show thing I've been talking about... it actually happened! On December 3rd to be exact. It was the hard-earned culmination of six semesters of going back to school for my degree in graphic design + illustration. People, I GRADUATED.

In my program, the very last class you take before graduating is called Portfolio Preparation—a semester of refining your portfolio to get hired and planning the final portfolio show, where employers, friends and family are invited to see all of your hard work first hand. They should probably rename the class, "The Semester From Hell," but more on that later.

Anyways, here is the --> website <-- for our show, which was themed En Route. As you can see, our class put a lot of work into making this thing happen.  You can preview my work here, see my full portfolio here and—bonus!—I took all the profile photos of the students, so look at those too. Or just see above. We're a good looking bunch of designers, if I do say so myself.

Plus, I've learned it takes a village to graduate from design school, so I would've never made it had it not been for some of these precious faces.

And now that I'm graduated, I'm reminded of my very first post. Tear. It all happened so fast.
