I've been meaning to blog about this series of e-newsletters for oh...three months now.

(That seems to be a running theme, eh?)

Anyways, the lovely ladies over at June Ruby, an online women's boutique, asked me to create a series of email newsletters highlighting a few of their super cute sale items. With a limited budget and desire to make the series look cohesive, we decided on two simple templates (chevron + flowers) and kept the overall design of the e-newsletters simple, sophisticated and chic.

In designing them, I drew inspiration from Shop Ruche's e-newsletters, which if you don't receive them, are impossible gorgeous each and every time. And since I have a major thing for both color and typography, I thoroughly enjoyed picking out color combinations to pair with these gorgeous typefaces. My favorite typeface of these being Sail....kinda obsessed with it.

The ladies at June Ruby totally loved the designs (whew!), and lucky for you, some of these dresses are still available for majorly cheap. Gotta love a good sale.

WEDDING SEASON

Final-Summer-Dresses

Now that I'm done with finals, reality has hit me: I have eight weddings to attend this year.

A normal person might gasp at this number in astonishment. So much fun! So many weddings presents! So many bachelorette parties! So much love! But two years ago, I had 11 weddings in one summer. In comparison, eight seems rather easy and dare I say, totally amateur-ish?

As a seasoned invitee, I happen to know weddings are the best excuse to go shopping. Chances are, this summer I am going to run into ex-boyfriends, old high school friends + family I haven't seen in years. That means I need to look good. You know, like I haven't hit my peak yet or developed crow's feet or spent 15 minutes one morning last week pulling out gray hairs and belting Gypsies, Tramps + Thieves in my best Cher voice. You can't see me, but I'm raising my Friday night can of PBR in hopes that I haven't, in fact, peaked in life yet. Sadly, it's too late on the crow's feet and gray hairs.

The good news for us is that this is all solved by wearing colorful, patterned dresses. All it takes to deflect any notice of life's general wear and tear on our young (yet still aging) bodies is bright colors + blinding patterns. It screams look at my dress and not at my wrinkly grandma hands.

Plus, most of these items are on the less expensive side. That leaves me more money to spend on heavy duty hand lotion, retinol night cream and hair dye. My roots have already thanked me.

ESSENTIALS: Summer Neutrals

Summer-Neutrals

While I am not usually one to completely skip over seasons, it's only 27 degrees here in Wisconsin. That means while it technically may be spring, my mind is jumping right to summer (not the first time this has happened) and spending way too much time concocting my summer wardrobe.

If you know me, you will then know that I am a gal of obnoxious color. I own skinnies in mustard, green, red, blue, polka dot and damask print, to name a few, and have no problem sporting the colors of the rainbow on any given day. Red + pink? Mustard + coral? Stripes + polka dots? There is no combination too gregarious or obnoxious for my equally gregarious + obnoxious laugh.

But as I've gotten older, I've realized the value of investing in neutral basics. They pair with everything and no matter how you mix + match them together, you come out looking all Jackie Onassis chic (as opposed to Rainbow Brite). So this summer, I've got my eye on some summer neutrals that will help balance out my wardrobe but won't break the bank - minus that luscious $150 Madewell tote.

And yes, I do realize the sandals are partially bright green and blue. Just goes to show, you can take the girl out of color but you can't take color out of the girl, amiright?
