Believe it or not...I am STILL posting school projects from spring semester. You all finally see what my mother + father have known for years: that my ability to procrastinate knows no limits. But I am really glad that I am finally posting about this REI catalog I designed for my Applied Computer Graphics class, because it's my favorite piece of work I did last semester.

It should really come as no surprise that I enjoyed this catalog project immensely. As the daughter of a magazine + Sunday ads whore (I mean that nicely mom) and logical, right-brained accountant (you too dad), my genetic make-up was clearly destined to design catalogs for the masses. The mix of product promotion and attention to detail seemed to fit me well. So much so, that instead of doing the required eight catalog pages, I did 16. And yes, obnoxious overachiever girl that everyone hates right here.

The result is a camping-themed REI mini-catalog that I think fits well with REI's existing brand and makes you want to run outside to enjoy some serious outdoor summer fun. Or is that just me?

Please tell me that it's not just me. Because if there's one thing to NOT procrastinate about, it's definitely enjoying summer (awesome REI gear + camping trips included) while it lasts.

You may just remember these two from their earlier engagement photo session in February. This one beats it hands down. Not only was the weather more than 70 degrees warmer, but I felt markedly more confident behind the camera as I imagine Lauren and Shawn did in front of it the second time around. We walked along the Lake Mendota shoreline to some of their favorite spots. We stopped. We had a little fun. And at the end of it all, we gulped down cool, frosty beers at the Union Terrace.

These are my kind of people.

I can't wait for their wedding in October up at a gorgeous lakefront resort in Northern Wisconsin. It will be the first wedding I'll ever attend as the photographer and to say that I am nervous would be a gross understatement. But lucky for me, these two are so laid-back, hilarious and in love, I have a feeling everything is going to work out just fine.

I've been meaning to blog about this series of e-newsletters for oh...three months now.

(That seems to be a running theme, eh?)

Anyways, the lovely ladies over at June Ruby, an online women's boutique, asked me to create a series of email newsletters highlighting a few of their super cute sale items. With a limited budget and desire to make the series look cohesive, we decided on two simple templates (chevron + flowers) and kept the overall design of the e-newsletters simple, sophisticated and chic.

In designing them, I drew inspiration from Shop Ruche's e-newsletters, which if you don't receive them, are impossible gorgeous each and every time. And since I have a major thing for both color and typography, I thoroughly enjoyed picking out color combinations to pair with these gorgeous typefaces. My favorite typeface of these being Sail....kinda obsessed with it.

The ladies at June Ruby totally loved the designs (whew!), and lucky for you, some of these dresses are still available for majorly cheap. Gotta love a good sale.
